Venice Biennale Hk Exhibition 2025

Background

The Hong Kong Exhibition at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale will take “Legacy for the Future: Inheriting the Future” as its theme. The exhibition aims to uncover and document those often-overlooked urban constructions and buildings, focusing on how they have addressed major challenges currently faced by cities worldwide over the past decades—such as tackling climate change, managing urban density, and utilizing public spaces to meet citizens’ cultural and living needs. Curated jointly by AU Fai, ZHOU Ying, and LIU Shengyang, this year’s Hong Kong Exhibition highlights Hong Kong’s “collective intelligens” through public constructions that symbolize the city’s transformation, echoing the biennale’s overarching theme “Intelligence. Natural. Artificial. Collective.” proposed by chief curator Carlo Ratti .

The exhibits feature public construction works designed by local architects, which, despite their significance, have rarely been documented, researched, or shared with the international community. These works cover representative modern buildings including mixed-use buildings, housing estate shopping malls, municipal complex buildings, and public housing estates .
